INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY
The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University, that was established by the Indian Maritime University Act 2008, on 14 November 2008. It is the only university in the country in the maritime field. It has an All-India jurisdiction and the headquarters is at Chennai. It has campuses at Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Cochin.
Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test is an all India online common entrance tests managed by the Indian Maritime University. IMU CET is conducted to get admission into undergraduate & postgraduate courses in the area of marine. These programmes are offered by the IMU and its affiliated Institution.
Age Limit: The minimum age should be 17 years and maximum age should be 25 years on or before 1st August 2018.
Relaxation: There is a relaxation of 5 years for reserved category candidates.
Marital Status: Only unmarried candidates can apply for this exam.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 10+2/ equivalent examination or B.Sc or BE/B.Tech (from IIT or college recognized by AICTE).
Subjects: Candidates have to pass 10+2/ equivalent examination with PCM or B.Sc in PCM, Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years.
Minimum Marks: Candidates have to secure minimum 60% marks (10+2/ equivalent examination) or not less than 50% marks (B.Sc & BE/B.Tech).
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 10+2/ equivalent examination.
Subjects: Candidates have to pass 10+2/ equivalent examination with PCM & English subjects.
Minimum Marks: Candidates have to secure minimum 60% marks in PCM & 50% marks in English.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to clear 10+2/ equivalent examination.
Subjects: Candidates have to qualify 10+2/ equivalent examination with PCM & English subjects.
Minimum Marks: Candidates have to score at least 60% marks in PCM & 50% marks in English.
For B.Tech (Lateral Entry):
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass Diploma in Engineering.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass their bachelor degree from a recognized university.
Minimum Marks: Candidates have to obtain at least 50% marks. Score 50% marks in English Subject in 10th/12th/ UG Degree.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass their graduation or equivalent degree from a recognized university.
Minimum Marks: Candidates have to secure minimum 60% aggregated marks.
Candidates, those seek admission to marine courses (DG Shipping-approved courses) have to produce a medical fitness certificate which is approved by the Director General of Shipping. Candidates with Disability (DA), they are not eligible for admission to the marine programme. Candidates have to physically fit & meet the medical necessities as specified by DGS guidelines.
Candidates must have good binocular vision. Their vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately. Candidates joining B. Tech (Marine Engineering) degree course, their vision should be unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in the better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other eye. Those applying for DNS, B.Sc. (Nautical Science) & B.Sc. (Maritime Science) degree course, their vision should be unaided 1.0 (6/6) in the better eye and 0.67 (6/9) in the other eye.
Application Fee for applying online for CET is Rs.1000 for General candidates and Rs.700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. Application Fee has to be paid online only.
All the CETs are scheduled to be held simultaneously at 34 cities (Test Centres) spread across the country.
24. New Delhi
For candidates native to Andaman & Nicobar Islands or domiciled there for at least five years, separate CET for UG Programmes will be conducted by Andaman & Nicobar Administration on behalf of IMU. Such candidates need not apply here. However, the candidates applying for MBA / M.Tech Programmes should register online.
