Nalanda ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, alleging that the ruling alliance “formed the government through vote chori (vote theft)” during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking before a huge crowd, Rahul Gandhi accused the NDA of betraying democracy and twisting the people’s mandate, asserting that the ruling government was “brought to power through deceit and manipulation.”

The NDA did not win, they stole the people’s votes. This is not a government chosen by the people but one born out of fraud,” Gandhi declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Focus on Bihar and Voter Issues

Gandhi’s speech in Nalanda marked a continuation of his aggressive campaign in Bihar, where the Congress and INDIA bloc are attempting to challenge the NDA’s dominance. He criticized the state and central governments for failing to deliver on promises of employment, inflation control, and farmers’ welfare.

“The youth are jobless, prices are rising, and farmers are suffering. Yet, the government is busy celebrating a stolen victory,” he said.

Targeting BJP and PM Modi

Without naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of centralizing power and silencing dissent. He claimed that institutions such as the Election Commission and investigative agencies were being used to manipulate the electoral process.

“They talk about democracy, but every pillar of democracy has been weakened. The people’s voice is being suppressed,” Gandhi alleged.

Response from NDA Leaders

While the NDA is yet to issue an official response to Gandhi’s remarks, senior BJP leaders in Bihar have dismissed his comments as “baseless and politically motivated.” They argue that Gandhi’s accusations reflect the Congress party’s “frustration after continuous electoral defeats.”

Campaign Momentum in Bihar

With the Bihar Assembly elections heating up, both the NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc have intensified their campaigns. Gandhi’s comments are seen as an attempt to rally opposition voters and highlight issues of electoral integrity and governance.

Political analysts suggest that Gandhi’s “vote chori” remark could resonate among sections of the electorate disillusioned with the political status quo, while also polarizing the debate around democracy and electoral fairness.
